Little Pig Town 

Truffles' 2 babies turned out to be males , so they are being re-homed . I will miss them , but I have no where left to keep them away from the females . So , who were once Mary and Bright , are now named George and Harry ! LOL !!!

   It is very hard to tell their sexes before they are at least 3 weeks old . So , re-check your babies by then , or you could end up with toooooo many piggies . Here is a link that has photos to help you sex your babies . http://www.cavyspirit.com/sexing.htm

When what to my wondering eyes did appear , but 2 tiny babies and Truffles saying " Come here ! " I had no idea she was even preggers , although I was told she might have been with a male before I got her a few months ago . Evidently , she was . The babies are both doing fine and are sooo cute . They are peruvians like their mom  Truffles is doing a great job being a first time Momma  . I am uneducated at this raising guinea pig babies ! Here is Truffles with her 2 daughters , Mary ( in the front )and Bright ( behind  Mary ).

I got alllll the hay outta the house tonight ! It is just too brown and dry and the pigies aren't eatting it , so I am going to go back to the fresh , green hay I was getting at Wal-Mart for them . They won't have it as plentiful as this kind , but at least they will eat what they do have . And maybe my home can get back to being where I can breathe inside of it better . It looks like a dust storm in the pig room when I clean , so no more dry , dirty hay for this ole girl or these poor piggies .

I have found the best thing in the world for kitchen areas for my piggies ! It is called Cozy Fresh , I got it at Tractor Supply for 5.99 ( 20 pound bag) it looks like cat litter , but it isn't , it is pine infused with carbon and works like a charm ! It has already done what they claimed it would in absorbing 4 times what the wood chips did  I

Below is a picture of it at work , and this is day 4 , no odors what so ever , and I have 9 girls using it ! No more scooping wood chips and wondering where I am gonna put them , no more filled up trash can by the day after it is empty either , I got my life back ! YEAH !!!! I highly recommend this product , it has made a world of differance for me and my piggies .

I figured out what I did wrong the first 2 times I tried to use fleece and it didn't work . I didn't have a big enough kitchen area for my girls . Now I have a 2 foot wide by 6 foot long one , and they are all peeing there , and not on the fleece  It is sooo much easier on me to change the fleece than scoop out all those wood chips , and if that wasn't bad enough , I have them in a big pile in the front yard right now , to burn ! The trash can couldn't even start to hold them all , so we gave up and started burning the used wood chips . Now I can have room for our trash again in the trash can . I can also spoil my piggies with pretty fleece prints to enjoy with the other things I try to make for them .

I made some life style changes for some piggies yesterday by doing a trade with my friend Jessica that lives near me . She had too many long haired piggies to care of and I had 2 naked little male piggies that would benefit from being out of their sectioned off homes and into a home with children to give them lots of attention . I let Pepe and Prince , as well as  Thelma and Louise , go to help my friend not have to deal with so much hair , and get more one on one time with her kids . In exchange , I got 3 of the cutest long haired little girls ever ! I named them Truffles ( the one with the brown face ) , Ruffles , the one with the blonde on her face , and Lacey , the solid white one with black feet  They had been around males is the only problem , and I am praying they are not preggers . If so , I will be looking for homes for them , as I am at my limit with 12 piggies . I will be getting one more of her long haired girls , but I have to wait until she has her babies , as she is preggers . I am not sure of what I will name her , as I have not met her yet .
