Little Pig Town 

OMG !!! I justread that guinea pigs come in heat about every 2 weeks .... sounds like me ! LOL !! Anyway , I have had Thelma and Louise in with Casanova since I got them ! I thought there would be blood or something happen to let me know the females were in heat , but noooooooo ! Now I am wondering IF I will be a piggy granny ! And , not just of one but two litters ! OMG ... what if they each have like 3 babies ! That mea...

I made my piggies hay racks today out of some of the grids I bought to make their play area out of , and of course , those cookie cooling racks from the dollar store would also work ( and they are only 1.00 for 2 ) .All I did was cut the grids in half and bend them over to form a V shape , then clipped them to the sage with paper holders  The cookie cooling racks would maybe be even better , because some of the hay...

Here's something everyone who owns a male piggy needs to see. I had NO IDEA about needing to do this to keep them healthy. Needless to say , Casanova feels viloated tonight ! LOL !! Thank God his wasn't too bad a shape . Nothing came outta there like hair or hay , but now that I know , he will be gettin his " pap smear " every month , just to make sure . It didn't hurt anything but his pride , and he needs to be brought down a notch or two anyway. Thank God ...

I noticed in the photos I took of my piggies that their skin looked awful dry . I am new to this breed of guinea pigs , so I did some online research about how to care for their skin , then it was spa day for them ! They got a nice warm bath , followed by a nice warm coat of coconut with vit.E oil all over . It has only been 2 days ago since I did this and already they look 100% better ! They feel great too . I no longer notice any of the tiny "wounds or scratches they once had...

After  talking to the sales person at PetsMart , I have gone with a high quality food for my little ones . This is what it looks like , and it is susposed to help younger piggies get more of what all they need to grow up more healthy.

I was also out of hay , so I got this hay , which she said was better than the timothy hay I had bought at Wal-Mart . 

I got out the ole camara and took a few quick shots of my piggies today . They aren't the best pictures of them by far , but they will give you some idea of what they look like . If nothing else, I had fun taking them . They minded pretty well too , that surprised me , I thought I would be begging them to hold still , but they sit right there , as if to smile for the camara . I have figured out the names I want to use for my piggies  The 3 older females are gonna be named after The Golden Girls , Rose , Blanche and Dorthy . The male is Casanova , since he thinks he is God's gift ot the ladies . The 2 babies are Diamond and Pearl from Prince's  song " Diamonds and Pearls " . The 2 that look like bookends are gonna be Thelma and Lousie . 

Just now , reading online about how to care for my piggies , I read that you should NOT keep a male with a female ! OMG !!!! I have one male , and he has been in with 2 females now since he's been here , and for all I know since he has been around ! I don't want him to be lonely and in a cage by himself , but I have no idea where to get him a male to to be him either ! AND , if that isn't crazy enough , he is around ALL MY GIRLS at play time in the play area . What kind of life...

Today I made my piggies a big area where they can all get together and stretch their little legs for a few hours each day . They  seemed to enjoy it after a little while . I wasn't able to put the 2 babies in there ( not yet ) , I was afraid they would get hurt . The male went crazy , as all men do when surrounded by ladies ! LOL !!! I think he fell in love with them all in a matter of a hour or less . I just hope he...

I had just gotten my  8 little piggies home ,  got the 3 cages all cleaned up and decided on which piggies were going where . Feeling I had gotten alot done , and in need of a break , I sat down to the computer and started doing some much needed research on how to care for hairless piggies . I had never had hairless ones , but had experience with the other kinds of guinea pigs from years and years ago . When it happened .....
